I'm so sorry for a late post today, but at least I'm still posting, right?

Today's new item is in the Summer Carnival, another balloon hat!

This time it's a hummingbird.

Hmm, I guess this is my favourite balloon hat so far! The price isn't bad- clocks in at only 2,000 tickets. I assume that if this was a 2012 item, it would have sold for around 8000-10,000 tickets O-o

I don't know, but maybe I could have graphic/banners for sale? I can make some pretty nice things... I might test it out for a bit before I go on vacation. I don't know.

Summer isn't over just yet!

Today's rare item Monday, which I'm going to admit isn't exactly the most exciting day of the week ;3;
Anyway, today's rare item can be found on the 5th page of the Jam-mart clothing- the rare sun visor! O-o

At least it isn't the rare round glasses or something, to remind us that Summer is ending soon :c

This rare pretty much keeps the Summer spirit up, because we are still more than a month away from autumn! 

There's also a new item to add to the ice cream parlour items;

I have seen that some Jammers started school today, wow o_O

And I still didn't go on vacation yet! cx

Animal Jam is not JUST about rares- it's about other things too! Sure, rares are fun to have. It's fun to collect items. But rares were never meant to be the main focus of the game, they were just supposed to be part of a fun pastime! I'm quite sure AJHQ didn't intend us to spend all of our Animal Jam time sitting there trading for bigger and bigger rares, getting involved in all sorts of drama and hacks. Rares are the reason behind lots of Jammers quitting, behind some Jammers being upset and of course the reason of some hacks. I think some items were generated because the Forgotten Desert came out and there were no longer any 'real' rares, so the 'Reward Plaque', beta blue vines and many more were born. Of course, that's what I think. I could be far from the truth, or dangerously close to it. Rares obviously took AJ by storm- in every single server you will find at least one Jammer looking for trades. Trading isn't evil; it's the very system I use to complete collections and earn fun new items for outfits. But then there is a way to abuse the trading system; scamming. Rares became coveted for some reason- perhaps the social respect earned by having them or a desire to look 'cool'. Hence, Jammers went greater and greater lengths to get them; eventually even resulting in illegal hacks! If you think about it though, rares are no more than clothing or furniture items on a virtual game. It doesn't take much skill to get them, and you can still compose some pretty darn good looking outfits using smaller items. For example- try my bunny's outfit but in different colours. All it takes is a tiara, lollipop necklace, old blanket and a glove. 

Or, chill out in Crystal Sands with this easy to get Summer themed outfit!

All it takes is tickets from the Summer Carnival to buy a sun hat, a lei and freedom bands/ leaf leg armour.

Don't forget, it's not difficult to make this awesome outfit too!

There, a necklace, a fox hat, a worn blanket and a glove. 

What epic outfits can you make out of easy to get items?

Some of those look MUCH better than just piling rares on your animals ^-^

Late post today, I know, but I try my best ^-^
Anyway, here's what's new in Jamaa today!
First of all, you can find the new item in the Summer Carnival for 2,500 tickets- the stegosaurus tail!

Hmm, rather cool if you would like to become a dinosaur or something. How will you use this? If you ever will, of course.

Moving on, there are no new videos today but, there is something in the activities calendar! YAY!

Have you tried the new game yet? I have, and it's actually quite fun.
You get yourself over to the Summer Carnival...

Then, you go up and right until you find the place where Phantom Ball,Carnival Darts and the Ticket Shop all hang out. Can you see Dunk-a-phantom?

You click on the game, and spend 5 of your hard-earned gems for a try...

You have to hit the targets in order to drown the phantom! Ouch...

Takes quite a lot of trial and error, but then you can take the tickets and treat yourself to a nice plushie (or two)!

This side topic is really going to be a bunch of random stuff, be prepared :P

I don't know who would fall for this obvious scam, and it's just plain annoying to know that Jamaa is so full of those people that are willing to be lazy and do NOTHING to earn their coveted items whatsoever. Yes, clicking and typing isn't really hard work, no matter how many 'I worked so hard for my rares and now you can buy them!' claims you hear, but scamming on Animal Jam just shows being LAZY TO SUCH AN EXTENT I WANT TO RIP MY LIGHT GREEN FUR OUT AND SHOVE IT IN THEIR HOT DOGS! If you are too lazy to play a few adventures or do a bit of typing, clicking and possibly crying (yes, getting 'rare' often does involve shedding a few tears) then gosh, I can't imagine you in REAL life. Do you want a gym membership? -_-

It feels much better to actually EARN your own items because you will be more proud of it, but if I was you and I successfully scammed a headdress I wouldn't bear to wear it without feeling guilty. REALLY guilty.

Moving on, I need some trading advice? I don't obsess over trading, but I have some leftover rare items and I would like to trade them. I got a few offers, but I'm not sure if they are fair?

First off, I got an offer for my spaceship grey walls- it's a traffic cone. The non-member ones.Do you think it's fair?

Also, another offer for my short green spiked wristband...

Boa Scammers

Hey Jammers!
I apologise for the late post, but this Summer is becoming increasingly busy for me- I have some school-work to get sorted, back to school shopping to get done, preparing for vacation, drawing...all sorts of things! I hope to get back on track soon.
A thunderstorm is on the way, there was also one yesterday at night and it woke me up :(
Thunderstorms are rather scary!
Anyway, moving on from my rambling and straight on to Jamaa news.
Today's new item can be found in Jam-mart clothing, and it's a sparkly boa!

Hmm... what can I say? It certainly does seem like a good member item, and will go quite well with the other ridiculous sparkly items that have been popping up in shops o-o

Sparkly head bow+sparkly boa+ice armour+sparkly shoes+ice tail= OVERWHELMING SPARKLES

This actually looks a bit sharp O-o

Like little...blades... :S

Check it out! ^-^ Carnivorous plants... scary, if you ask me... I mean, if they were genetically modified to be bigger then... I'm quite sure.... they might be able to eat... humans! Thankfully, they don't exist. Yet.

Moving on, don't forget that the plushie stores are always being updated! Once a plushie is gone, I immediately put a plushie in its place so the store is always stocked up. This means 100 different plushies to choose from in a single store!

For a side-topic, I caught a scammer today! I took a lot of pictures, so here they are with my descriptions of what happened.

Alright, so someone named Illpup was advertising a give-away for a founders' hat and more at their den. I already was suspicious, and walked around the den saying that it was bound to be a troll. After a lot of waiting, the person arrived...

They changed their previous trade list (which consisted of the founders' hats and several other rather decent rares) into a list full of necklaces. Uh-oh...

Then we were told to 'trust-trade' them, which is basically trading something very good for a cheap item and 'trusting' the person to decline. It is very popular and shouldn't be done, but if you ever do, understand it's VERY risky and even someone you knew since 2010 could turn against you.

A person named 'MoonMoonTheSecond' won quite frequently, which got me suspicious. I then suspected that Moon was the main account and Ill was a storage, so I checked their achievements. Only 9...

After lots of trading, somebody claimed their headdress got accepted! This could be true or not...

The person who claimed their headdress got scammed;

After that, we all got locked out, so it's really likely that Happy did get scammed.

As a safety measure, stay clear of Illpup and also, take caution around Moon. Moon might not be the same person, but they could be.

Remember Jammers to stay safe to avoid scamming!

Here are a few random tips you could use to stay safe from...

Scammers

• Don't make Aldan your main server to visit, as it is FULL of scammers. Only visit at your own risk, and to trade. Be careful!
• Be careful at giveaways- if it is required to give or trade an item, leave the den! It is VERY likely to be a scam so go out and find another giveaway to visit.
• Only trade something if you are happy with what you will get in return- are you sure you want to trade the item? Is it a fair trade to you? Do you like what you will get in return?
• Never give in to a scammer! You have a right to keep your items and nobody should make you feel bad about doing so!
• Not trading back does NOT make you a scammer, so if you don't want to trade back, explain it calmly. If the person is mean to you, block and report them. Don't make the fight any bigger! However, I am talking about not trading back if you more or less did a trade you were both happ
• Don't flash trade- you might think they have no chance of accepting but the sad truth is that sometimes, it gets stuck and some people are exceptionally fast. What do you gain out of flash trading, anyway? My first ever worn blanket (pink) got scammed in early November 2012 (thanks to caseytiger19) by flash trading, PLEASE DON'T GO DOWN THE SAME ROAD!
• Do the whole trade at once if you can- if someone seems do offer something rather suspicious e.g trade me your headdress for my old hood then I'll give you my founders' hat, do NOT do it! If you are doing a trade where you will be receiving more than 4 items, make sure you can trust the person.
• Understand the risks-if you are going to flash,trust or gift, understand the risks. Someone you know at school that you are very close with that played AJ with you since 2010 could take a turn and decide friendship is less important than pixels any day. So, make sure you can either trust them 100% or accept the risk!

Hackers

• Change your password regularly- you can decide how often.It can be as frequent as once a week to once every six months... you decide! 
• Make sure your password is easy for you to remember, but not very predictable,simple or easy for anyone else to figure out. Try to include lower and upper case, symbols and numbers.
• Don's share any information that could make your password easy to guess! 
• As tempting as it may be, NEVER give out your password unless you are VERY close, for  example a parent or even a sibling in some cases. You never know! No matter how much you think you can trust them or what they promise, you never know...
• If you think you might get hacked soon, i.e accidentally giving out your password, getting the attention of a possible hacker, reset your password and lock your account through the parent dashboard. Once you're on there, disable gifting and trading, too. When you are back online,keep locking your account and/or disabling gifting/trading until you feel safe again.
• Be careful in Aldan! It's a popular spot for people like x to hang out in...
